Having lunch with the good old boys Featured

Jim Hendricks, Equity Trust Group, is a real estate broker that I have known since high school. He works very hard at helping people find the best deal. The one thing about "Jimmy" that I didn't know is that he was the Grand Poobah for the Masonic Lodge. He told me that he has been a member since 1978 and that his father was always heavily involved with donating his time to the program.

Well, Jimmy called me up a couple of months ago and asked me if I wanted to meet a group of guys over at the A&L sports pub (sports bar in Portland, OR) for lunch. It was a tough decision but I told Jim that I'd love to.

When I got there, he introduced me to Paul Jaschina a 93 year old that used to live next door to Jimmy in NE Portland. Paul will call Jim about once a month when he is running low on his bottle of Canadian whiskey. Jim picks him up and takes him to the A&L for lunch with Paul's son Bob. It is a real hoot! Old Paul used to be a Longshoreman at the docks in Swan Island. He always orders his regular cheeseburger and eats half of it and takes the other half home with him for dinner. He is also making these rosaries that he gives away. He has some great stories of being married for 50 plus years and living life to the fullest. You can learn a lot by just listening to someone that has that many years on this planet.

    Betty,

Thank you for sharing. I love having people find my blog articles (out of the blue).

I went back to this blog posting and realized that I don't have the photo to accompany this article. I will update it when I get to the office tomorrow. I am having Paul's nephew, Bob, contact you. Paul is a wonderful character and looking for someone to vistit/talk to him.

I also have another article on Paul (December 2009) on my blog. http://www.inkspotgraphics.com/blog/itemlist/date/2009/12

Testimonials

"Just a quick note to thank you for doing a very professional job with my business cards and the brochure that you created for my business.

I was in a large retail store today putting forth a proposal to the store owner to sell and display my fence post brackets. We had finished our discussion and I asked the buyer if he wanted a sample fence post bracket and he said 'no because the brochure has everything that I possibly need to know on it. It was very well done.'

Mike, I wanted to pass this tidbit on because we so often get only complaints.

Thanks again for your integrity and creative design."
